At African Rainbow Family, we strongly value the time, expertise and commitment of our staff, volunteers and experts by experience. Although we are naturally inclined to support in any uplifting and empowering opportunities that we are invited to contribute towards, as a grassroots charitable organisation with a small staff team we must also be mindful of our capacity. Given the size of our team and the sheer dedication that we hold to supporting LGBTIQ+ people seeking asylum and refugees, we feel that we can no longer step away from our work where there is no benefit to the organisation and those that we support.
For our Experts by Experience to share their lived experiences, we request on their behalf that compensation should be offered in the form of adequate fees to cover access to counselling or mental health therapies. The process of sharing their lived experiences can often retraumatise our service users, meaning that such provisions are neccessary for their wellbeing.
As such, we, along with several partners who have encouraged us to enact such a system, have established the following rates for our collaboration and speaker fees.

In order to streamline our collaborations with corporate allies and partners, we have created an exciting menu of ways that businesses can both learn from and support us:
| Activity | Suggestion | Cost |
|---|---|---|
| Intro Talk | An online 30 minute introduction to African Rainbow Family, including who we support, how we support them and a brief introduction to how the asylum system works in the UK, especially for LGBTIQ+ people. We will also share how you can help us in our mission. | £250 |
| Presentation | Have a member of our team come to your offices (or online) for a 90 minute presentation and workshop on the experiences of LGBTIQ+ people seeking asylum, dispelling common myths and more. | £500 + travel expenses |
| Donation | Help fund 10 counselling sessions for one of our service users, supporting them to cope with their traumatising experiences | £500 |
| Donation | Help fund 1 month of travel reimbursements for service users attending a Monthly Siblings Meeting. This reduces their isolation and builds a sense of family while they go through their difficult journey to safety and freedom. | £1,000 |
| CEO Talk | A 1 hour fireside chat with our CEO and Founder, Aderonke Apata | £1,250 + travel expenses |

| Training/ Workshop | Interactive Half-Day Training or Workshop Session with your team (see the section above for potential topics) | £2,500 + travel expenses |
| Donation | Help us fund counselling sessions for 10 of our service users, supporting even more people to cope with the crippling mental health issues, such as PTSD, depression and anxiety, that arise from their experiences as LGBTIQ+ people seeking asylum. | £5,000 |
| Donation | Support 250 service users to attend a pride event this year, covering their travel and accommodation costs and giving them a chance to be in a positive queer-friendly space, where they can escape from the stresses of the asylum system for a day or two. | £7,500 |
| Donation | Support us to employ a new member of part-time staff and continue expanding our committed but busy small team, in turn providing a more permanent supportive presence in one of our other centres around the UK. | £10,000 |
The above fees are exercised at our own discretion and can be increased or reduced according to the amount of time and work that we must put into the task.
In addition to our base rate fees, we ask that any of our staff, volunteers or experts by experience who have been invited to attend your event, have their travel reimbursed in full.
