As part of this milestone, we have launched our Refugee Access to Justice — a free, confidential, and non-fee-paying immigration advice service created specifically for LGBTIQ+ refugees and people seeking asylum of African heritage and the Global Majority, based in the United Kingdom. This service is created for and led by our experts by lived experience advisers and rooted in a long-standing commitment to ensuring that LGBTIQ+ people fleeing persecution are not left navigating complex asylum systems alone, without information, dignity, or support.
What we can support you with
If you are already in the UK and are thinking about applying for asylum, or have already made an application, we can:
- Provide free and confidential advice on all aspects of the asylum process
- Guide you through how to apply for asylum
- Support you to prepare for Home Office interviews, including understanding what to expect
- Advise on gathering and presenting evidence to support your claim
- Support you if your asylum claim has been refused, including advice on appeals to the Immigration Tribunal or making a fresh claim based on new evidence
- Discuss concerns if you are worried about how your solicitor or legal representative is handling your case
What we cannot do
To ensure clarity and transparency, please note that:
- We cannot provide immigration advice to people who are outside the UK
- We only provide immigration advice to LGBTIQ+ refugees and people seeking asylum
- We do not offer legal representation and cannot replace your solicitor, who remains responsible for your case
- We cannot support people under the age of 18
