Our summer of celebration and advocacy continued as the African Rainbow Family team and siblings gathered for Leeds Pride on Sunday, 19th July 2026! It was a powerful, vibrant day filled with community solidarity, high spirits, and joy.
Gathering at Park Square
Our day began at Park Square East, where siblings and team members met up early to connect, welcome new faces, and prepare for the day ahead. The energy was electric as everyone put on their ARF t-shirts and prepared to make our presence felt in the city centre.
Marching in the Parade
We proudly took to the streets as part of the official Leeds Pride Parade, starting from Leeds Town Hall. Walking together through the heart of the city provided a vital platform to showcase our visibility, celebrate our identities, and highlight our ongoing campaign for the rights of LGBTIQ+ refugees and people seeking sanctuary.
Post-Parade Picnic at St. John’s Park
Following the parade, we gathered at St. John’s Park for our after-Pride picnic. It was the perfect space for our community to relax, share food, unwind, and enjoy each other’s company. Creating these safe, welcoming spaces where our family can feel a genuine sense of belonging remains at the core of everything we do.
