Looking back at our highlights for June so far, one standout evening is right at the top of our list. Last week, the African Rainbow Family (ARF) team had the absolute pleasure of dressing up and heading to Buile Hill Hall for the special Centenary Edition of the Heart of Salford Awards.
Hosted by Salford CVS, the annual awards are always a beautiful reminder of the incredible dedication within the city’s voluntary, community, and social enterprise (VCSE) sector. This year felt even more historic, as it coincided with the celebration of 100 years of Salford’s city status.
Double Nominations and a Massive Win
We were incredibly honoured to go into the evening with two organizational nominations, being shortlisted as finalists for both Large VCSE Organisation and Equalities Champion. While we didn’t take home the trophies for those specific categories, the night was an absolute triumph for ARF.
Our hearts are bursting with pride because our very own Aderonke took home the prestigious award for Outstanding Contribution! 🏆✨
Seeing Aderonke’s tireless dedication, passion, and vital work recognized on such a momentous night was an unforgettable experience for the whole team. This award is a testament to the immense impact she makes within our community every single day.
Celebrating 100 Years of Community
Being in the room alongside so many inspiring groups, volunteers, and change makers was a powerful reminder of why we do what we do. Salford has a rich, 100-year legacy of people looking out for people, and we are profoundly grateful to be a part of that story.

We want to extend a massive thank you to Salford CVS for putting on such a fantastic, uplifting event, and a huge congratulations to all of the fellow nominees and well-deserved winners.
Thank you to everyone who continues to support ARF—our work is only possible because of our incredible community. Here is to celebrating our achievements and continuing to push for equality, together!
